Tony Aarts has played golf in Florida for thirty-five years and never had trouble with the local wildlife until last week.
“As I was walking about 5 to 6 feet away from the water I heard a splash, and as soon as I heard that splash I knew it was an alligator, and he got me,” an astonished Aarts admitted.
“I remember having a club in my hand (a Cleveland putter), and as soon as he had me in the water up to my waist, I started hitting him over the head [the cantankerous crocodilian clinched harder, so]...I started hitting him in the eye socket...”
The putter was put back in it's pouch. Aarts ankle is pulverized. And the gator was eradicated by Florida Fish and Wildlife. Got gator? Here's the Florida Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866-FWC-GATOR.
