Guide To Wives Undressing For Husbands

Life magazine started in 1883 as a small humor and general interest tome. Henry Luce bought and relaunched the magazine in 1936 as a weekly with emphasis on photojournalism.

In 1937 Life published a 'guide to wives on undressing' detailing how women should strip in front of their husbands.  Using burlesque dancers with bare asses, Allen Gilbert, was really promoting his Manhattan School of Undressing, giving out pointers and blaming wives for their faulty 'disrobing methodology' as the chief reason for America's ballooning divorce rate at the time.

Sound outrageous and misogynist?

Consider the cover on Rolling Stone magazine today idolizing and rationalizing the acts of the cowardly Boston Bomber now on trial.  Writer and liberal goon Janet Reitman went after Scientology in a book but somehow missed the much more egregious acts of  Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.  Reitman has a flat-head, of course.

No question the naive times of the past have changed - but not for the better.
