Soon after arriving at the 'perfect spot pert and posing' Ms Pantazopoulos slipped and fell into the Ouareau River. Three hours later her body was located down stream under twenty-feet of water, her dress and shoes washed up on a nearby rock.
Maria yelled 'I'm slipping, I'm slipping, I'm slipping,' before sliding off. She tried to stand on the slippery rock with her heels and dress dipping into the water. The river filled her dress pulling the small woman under the furious flow sweeping her quickly over the falls and eventually to her ultimate fate.
