‘You may joke about how committee meetings make you feel brain dead, but our findings suggest that they may make you act brain dead as well,’ said Read Montague, director of Human Neuroimaging Laboratory.
Montague observed, ‘we started with individuals who were matched for their IQ...yet when we placed them in small groups, ranked their performance on cognitive tasks against their peers...we saw dramatic drops in the ability of some study subjects to solve problems.’
Both the men and the women had the same baseline IQ scores, but more women fell into babbling stupidity as the study progressed. No explanation why women went flat-line more often, but the Angle suspects since women are alleged to be 'conflict resolvers' they dumb-down to appear less confrontational.
So, next time your wife comes home from a work sounding like the Rain Man cut her some slack she probably had conference meetings all day.
