Resistant Gonorrhea Worse Than AIDS

The over prescribing of antibiotics has given rise to new threats from old diseases.  Kept at bay for decades, super-strains of MERSA, CRE, TB, Pneumonia and Gonorrhea are starting to roll.

"This might be a lot worse than AIDS in the short run because the bacteria is more aggressive and will affect more people quickly, getting gonorrhea from this strain might put someone into septic shock and death in a matter of days," said Alan Christianson, MD consulting with the National Coalition of STD Directors.

The CDC says more than 800,000 of STD cases reported are gonorrhea infections, most between ages 15 and 24.

Gonorrhea isn't funny.  Even with antibiotics the disease makes men sterile and threatens both genders with heart damage. .

So the 'scare' tone is heard more often because more complex replacements for the antibiotics that no longer work require, you guessed it, federal funding.  Anyone bet Obama will sequester cut this?

Suddenly, staying married and faithful means a lot more than integrity and honesty, it can also lead to saving your own life.
