Sour grapes Sergio Garcia still steaming over the Players Championship made a race crack during an interview in Europe last week.
Garcia's retort, "We'll have him 'round every night, we will serve fried chicken.''
Woods took to Twitter to complain, "The comment that was made wasn't silly. It was wrong, hurtful and clearly inappropriate."
Yesterday Garcia walked-back the faux pas, "I apologize for any offense that may have been caused by my comment on stage during the European Tour Players' Awards dinner...''
Fuzzy Zoeller stepped in the same puddle of chicken poop back in 1997 regarding Tiger Wood's US Open win. Zoeller lost an endorsement deal over that one. And it appears Sergio may face the same fate losing a $7 million buck deal too.
And back in 2008 remember the Golf Channel pair Kelly Tilghman joking with co-anchor Nick Faldo's who said that younger players should "gang up" on Woods, Tilghman replied "Lynch him in a back alley".
Well, maybe blacks do have a little point regarding embedded racism. Still, Woods is said to be fairly unliked among his peers on the tour. Although not clear if the cause is about his dominance, his aloof manner, or his skin color. Either way, these days making any kind of race crack is quickly squashed whether the comment is made in jest or not.
