McDonald's Worker Spots Own Stolen Car At Drive-Up Window

Virginia Maiden had a bad day and a good day on the same day last Tuesday.

Ms. Maiden of Kennewick, WA awakened to find her 1995 Toyota 4-Runner stolen.   So before she could get ready for work she had to call 911 to report the theft and admit to the cops she had, indeed, left the truck unlocked.  A classic error.

Virginia got a neighbor to take her McDonald's job.  Tuesdays are her day to woman the drive-thru window - a harried duty she doesn't relish.  But fate was soon to intervene a second time in the same day.

About two hours into the shift she took an order from a female far back in the line.  As Virginia looked up to deliver the goods it happened.  She was staring at her own stolen car!

Straining to compose her shock she told the woman her order was still being completed.  Stepping back from the window she signaled to a co-worker to take over while she went to the back to called the cops, again.

The driver, Katherine A. York, 22, was arrested before getting out of the McDonald’s parking lot. Inside Virginia's car cops found ‘a large amount’ of clothing, complete with security tags stolen from JC Penney and Sears earlier in the day.

The moral is simple. Never leave your car unlocked unless you work in a fast food joint where car thieves get lunch. And oh yea, Virginia?  LOCK YOUR CAR.
