Science: Jesus Christ Died On Friday, April 3, 33AD

Now we now know the day, time, and year Jesus Christ died.

Jesus was nailed to a crudely hewn wooden cross.  The spikes driven thru the wrists not the hands.  His feet were bound to prevent him from tearing from the upright wooden implement of Roman execution.

The Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 27, recounts that as Jesus hung dying on the cross, an earthquake rose up, scattering graves and making the sky dark as night.

Geologist Jefferson Williams of Germany's Supersonic Geophysical studied soil samples from the beach of Ein Gedi Spa, next to the Dead Sea. The scientific effort is meant to pinpoint the biblical account with geological evidence of an earthquake and thus determine the date of the crucifixion itself.

A series of large earthquakes are known to have happened in 31BC, and later another one between 26AD and 36AD. The latter earthquake took place during 'the years when Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea and when the earthquake of the Gospel of Matthew is historically constrained.'

An aggregation of clues are found in disciple texts, accounts from Roman administration of Judea, and now the geologic record.

Jesus of Nazareth, a stone mason, not a carpenter was martyred on the evening of Friday, April 3, 33AD. What happened after that is of course embedded in the mysticism of Christianity.
