Iirrational, childlike, malicious, selfish, ignorant, and sometimes dangerous they pose no threat except to the animals they pretend to protect.
Three species of African antelope — the scimitar-horned oryx, the addax and the dama gazelle — are already nearly extinct in their native Africa. So Texas ranches where hunters pay thousands of dollars for the privilege of hunting them are growing them like weeds. The win-win proposition is saving these species from extinction by managing them like livestock.
Activists admit they would rather the animals go extinct, than to be hunted for prize and food. So, the ranches closing. Why spend money to feed and care for the animals if there is no way to recover the cost?
President of Friends Of Animals Priscilla Feral spent 7 years working to stop Texas ranchers. She succeeded in convincing Fish and Game so last April in 2012 these species became off limits to the ranchers.
Way to go Priscilla, we'll make sure your name goes on the plaque placed on the last gazelle's grave as a salute to your 'accomplishment'.
