Canada's Conservatives (Stephen Harper) stormed to a decisive victory in Monday's federal election, winning 54 percent of the seats in Parliament and securing a stable four-year term in power after vowing to focus on the economy.
The victory, a relief for Canadian financial markets, left support for the separatist Bloc Quebecois in tatters and the party's leader without a seat.
The Liberals, who have ruled Canada for more years than any other party, were reduced to a dismal third place showing with their worst ever seat haul.
"With a Conservative majority, you're essentially assured a fairly business-friendly platform, low taxes, continued investment in energy and potential future energy projects. In terms of investment it's definitely got a bullish bias." said Youssef Zohny, portfolio manager at Van Arbor Asset Management in Vancouver.
Three-cheers for Canada. If the USA somehow managed to copy Canada, and the UK, and install an all conservative government with strong majorities, imagine the possibilities. The USA cannot dream this dream until the Senate and the Executive branches are in super-majority, GOP hands. And the GOP RINO's are driven out as well. Its a tall order, but the pathway is clear to see.
If Obama is reelected, the USA will enter a cold and long dark age. Many simply do not understand how dire the situation is, just how massively behind the power-curve the country is suffering at present.
The election in 2012 will be the ultimate crossroad; will the American voter rise to the challenge, learn the basics, respond and act decisively? Or will the US simply, inexorably continue to collapse under the cancerous debt, and economic stupidity of the Obama regime... stay tuned.
